Internet Marketing Strategies

Internet Marketing

Internet Marketing StrategiesInternet Marketing Strategies

So, which Internet Marketing Strategies will you use?

I get asked “what are the best internet marketing strategies” all the time. I decided it would be much simpler if I gave a brief guide here on my blog, so here is a quick guide on the most common used tactics in IM (internet marketing)

What Are Internet Marketing Strategies?

Internet Marketing strategies are the methods used for promoting your own or someone else’s product, service, company or brand on-line. Online Marketers use their knowledge and skills to promote and market their on-line business, company and services.

Common strategies used include social media, blogging, static websites, and Joint Venture promotions.

Affiliate Marketing

One of the more popular entry level internet marketing strategies, especially good if you’re just starting out. No need for your own product or service, you simply target your chosen market and promote other people’s products. Affiliate Marketers find a Niche and fine tune their landing pages to their customer, eventing in a sale. It is perhaps one of the easiest strategies to apply and make money quickly. Common affiliate marketing promotion tools used to find products to promote are Clickbank, Commission Junction, Paydotcom, Amazon.

Media Buys

These are the big boys of the internet marketing world. Media Buyers use a specialist strategy used to purchase targeted traffic and drive it to their sales page or landing page. Media buyers target customers by demographics, interests etc and fine tune paid campaigns to compliment their niche.

Common platforms used include Google Adwords, Social Media Paid Ads, Sponsored searches etc.

Blogging

Blogging is another one of the easy area to start in. Bloggers maintain an ongoing ‘weblog’ of their chosen niche. Whether they are marketing products or services, or marketing themselves, their blog is usually a popular topic niche and targeted at those who will follow the blog for regular news and updates. Blogging is ideal for listbuilding and supports great brand awareness and is ideal for marketing and communication for business or personal.

Product Creation

Creating a product isn’t as daunting as it sounds and product owners are some of the most successful internet marketers out there. Creating a product can be anything from a short report through to software, including training courses, traditional books, guides and physical goods. Making money from your own product one of the more lucrative online strategies.

Social Media

Never ignore the power of social media! It is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. Everyday, billions of people and businesses connect via social media, so many in fact, that many car manufacturers are using Social Media to launch their products now! Simple tactics such as twitter or facebook marketing are relatively easy to learn and implement and have been providing some outstanding returns!

Niche Marketing

Niche Marketing is one of the more popular areas for online advertising. Niche Marketing is all about finding a smaller segment of a market and creating a product or a service for that market. In general a niche is a very targeted and focused market. An example of a market is “pets”, whereas an example of a niche market could be “Labrador Dogs” or “Master Cleanse Diet” Niche markets are not as competitive as the bigger, more well know markets such as health tend to be less competitive than the bigger markets like health, Diets and Pets, and are alot easier to succeed in.

Joint Ventures

Joint ventures are responsible for some of the most successful online product launches to date. Partnering with others to promote your product, create your product, build your list or brand online can result in a huge return on investment.

Internet Marketing Strategies, A Summary.

So, there you have it. Although I have defined each route separately, many of the routes overlap, and I think that is the biggest pitfall for anyone learning internet marketing. It’s so easy to end up with information overload, and end up trying anything and everything in internet marketing. But there are ways to overcome this. Grab some tips from my other posts to help you focus and really get to grips with online marketing and internet marketing strategies.

Free Marketing Ideas

Below I have listed some simple marketing ideas you can get started on for your business.

As you have probably realized by now, creating a website for your products and services is only half the battle. In order for your website to succeed and generate an income, you need to have traffic.

marketing ideas

Now this doesn’t mean cars driving over to your house, but actual people that visit your site and purchase something, or sign up for a free sample, newsletter or even contact you regarding questions about your products and services.

As a business owner, you know that it takes time and some money to get visitors to your Website, but without breaking the bank there are a few things you can do for free, while just investing some time and effort to create links and backlinks to your site.

Article Marketing Ideas

  • Write articles about your site, products and services
  • Your own Blog
  • RSS feeds
  • Blog commenting
  • Forum posting and commenting

Now before you get all frazzled and worried about not having enough time for all this, simply concentrate your efforts on the first three items and as time permits the last two will create some traffic for you as well.

The Purpose Of Writing Articles

Your intentions with your articles are to create backlinks and links within the articles that direct people to your website. Also, the more links that point at your website, the more the search engines will find them and the higher rank your site will acquire with them.

Your articles do not need to be all that technical, but interesting to the reader and, of course, related to your products and services. At the very end of the articles include a resource box – this is where you put your website information and URL that points back to your site.

I currently use Ezine articles, and get a reasonable amount of traffic from there. Have a go yourself and see if you can track the visits from your resourceful article!

Marketing ideas are all over the web right now, and it is difficult to keep on top of all the avenues you can try. I would definitely embark on writing a marketing plan for your businesses, and research all those good marketing ideas and great strategies you have before you start spending a penny on campaigns.

Internet Marketing Strategies – Keyword Research

internet marketing strategies

internet marketing strategiesOne of my top tips for anyone starting out online or setting up a business is to put together a sound marketing strategy plan. But before you do this, I want to let you in on one of THE most important internet marketing strategies you will ever learn.

Keyword Research – Keyword Research is the most important foundation of any business in todays markets. be it an online business or an offline business, your internet marketing strategies are going to prove to be the lifeblood of your research and planning when setting up.

A solid approach keyword research will show you in an instant whether there is a market out there for your product or service, and will determine the profitability of your future marketing campaigns.

Sounds like a strong statement doesn’t it?

I’m sorry to say, but it’s true. For those of you who put little to no thought into, OR who don’t understand the high significance of keywords, in their internet marketing strategy, the keyword research you do before getting one single web page up  will have a tremendous impact on how well you market to your target audience.

If you’re an offline business (purely shopfront) you will need to consider implementing keyword research into your marketing strategy before you start, as most consumers now search online for their product or service before purchase or physical visits to businesses.

No pressure.

So – you’re probably wondering “why is this keyword research so darned important to my internet marketing Strategies?”

Imagine for one moment that you own a Web Design Company and you’ve been invited to speak at an event.

You turn up, ultra prepared, notes in hand to deliver the presentation of your life.

You step out in front of the 200 or so attendees, everything goes to plan,  and you speak ever so compellingly for about 25 minutes.

When you are finished, the crowd claps nicely…almost out of obligation. Everyone leaves their seat immediately, and heads to the hotel bar, leaving you standing their, no questions to answer, no-one to follow up, no exciting after speech buzz to attend to.

You’re knocked sideways. It was your best presentations to date! You were compelling, but not too sales-y. You presented the problems with no pitch, and you managed to outline the available solutions, before unveiling your perfect product to fit the bill.

So, what happened?

The people you were presenting to weren’t expecting you…they were waiting on someone else who was going to present about business network marketing. They don’t even understand and weren’t interested in your area of expertise and had little or no interest in your product.

Put simply…..this wasn’t YOUR audience. This was not your target market.

You had everything prepared…you had perfectly prepared, presented and led right to the obvious solution…your product. But you were in front of the wrong people.

But how does this relate to keyword research as part of my internet marketing strategy?

People who visit your site are a direct relation to the keywords you are optimizing for. If you only tell search engines about your company name, how will people looking for your services find you?

For example – Say you’re a trendy hairdressers called ‘Zap Cuts’ and you build your website stuffed with Zap Cuts specials and Zap Cuts Pricelist etc, you’re not directing it towards your consumer. Your target market are not looking for ‘Zap Cuts’ They are looking for “Hairdressers”
By setting out Keyword research as the most important part of your internet marketing strategy, you will determine what phrases people are searching for that have the problem for your solution. They are searching for “perfect pick up lines” or “golf swing techniques” not “The Potty Putter.” They don’t even know you company even exists!

And, unless you do effective keyword research and optimize your site for it, they never will.

So, how do you go about finding the right keywords to research? Put yourself in your customers shoes. If you were someone out there with the problem your product solves, what would you be searching for?

“How to perfect my golf swing”

“Free Dog Training Guide”

“Best Art Museums”

“Traditional kids toyshops”

These keywords are the search terms your customers are using to find YOUR BUSINESS. These are the terms you need to incorporate in your Internet Marketing plan.

Of course, keyword research doesn’t end there. There are many internet marketing courses and marketing skills you can use in conjunction with KW research that will compliment your findings and enhance your ability to translate the necessary action you need to take to optimize your website and online marketing campaigns.
